SumTotal System Case Study: TRW Automotive
TRW Automotive is the leader in automotive safety, producing advanced active systems in braking, steering and suspension and sophisticated occupant safety systems for inflatable restraints, seat belts and steering wheels. TRW's classroom training, mostly regulatory, was taking too much time and effort. At their pilot site, hundreds of people needed to go through several different courses a year, and the staff available to teach these courses were dwindling. Simultaneous to this, the data entry for course credit from paper rosters and quizzes was taking time, and occasionally was keyed in erroneously. TRW chose ToolBook to create the courses as e-Learning.

SumTotal System Case Study: Humana
Humana, Inc., headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, is one of the nation's largest publicly traded health benefits companies. Humana created a Contract Information System to keep track of all the terms in all the contracts the company had with its providers. With each contract, students could become overwhelmed by the hundreds of potential paths through each contract. This made training slow, expensive and less effective given the company's smaller training budget. The training director created a very simple quiz using the drag-and-drop functionality of ToolBook. His team was able to track the students' total time in the system, how much time on spent on each question, how many attempts the student made, and the total score.

SumTotal Systems Case Study: NCSL (National College for School Leadership)
Nine regional providers were delivering NCSL programs, all using different databases with no common access to a central database. The programs were a blend of face-to-face and online learning the solution, therefore, needed to facilitate, develop and manage this blend of activities and result from one location. With more than 150 mortgage products and services, the company needed an integrated learning infrastructure for propagating knowledge and skills out to nearly 3,000 account managers, account executives, customer service representatives and loan processors distributed across the U.S. Under the leadership of its Learning Center, the company teamed with SumTotal to facilitate its new approach to driving business performance through learning. GreenPoint deployed SumTotal in 1997 as a centralized platform for online sales and loan processing education nationwide.
